Last night was the first this month that we didn't hit the dew point in the overnight.

Just after the sun went down was the first time you could smell this crop as well... Like freshly cut hay. By mid next week, there wont be much left here. Surface moisture is non-existant, subsoil went into this year depleted.

There's durum up to your elbows that is turning white as heads abort. To think... 2 weeks ago, I was contemplating a bagger! Grain buyers pressuring to lock in bushels saying prices are expected to fall further yet... Yea, ok... You got act of god? How bout send your high priced agrologists/agronomists out and tell me what's a fair number to "pre sell"? I'm weather tight storage poor here at the moment, and capable of storing a 15bu/ac across the board crop. The only one I see putting pressure on that number is peas. And those peas? They were gunning for 50+, but pods that were 6 and 7 peas are now down to 2, 3, or 4 max, with the top pods aborting altogether. Leaf burn and bottom stem burn is prevalent on every crop out there. They're hurting!

Good luck lads and lasses. Get your ducks in a row! At least for now, it looks like depressed prices are going to accompany lackluster bushels.

Interested to see what next week's report brings.
Digging a borrow pit inside the high water line on a small slough. Dry for 8'

And are you in an area that had excess water this spring?

I went back and measured cause I'm good at exaggerating lol and my eyes are bad.
Clay was dampish for 5' then sweaty.
Don't believe it has had standing water since last spring, permanent slough. It's a cycle.
No and yes. We mudded it in but really only had 4 inches in May with no real drying after runoff. Just north, they had more rain on worse dirt.
Properly established crops hanging in. Wheat flowering, canola peaking, peas done. We'll see.

Over the last 4 years we are close to 40 inches short of our yearly average. This year is getting closer to average but still below. Just gives a person some perspective of how much we will have to catch up to fill the tank again. When that happens we aren’t gonna like the results that year or years. But it will come eventually and we will most likely be on the other end of the pendulum fighting mud and yellow crops or dead crops. I’m always careful what I ask for because I’ve seen the results.

Corn is the only thing doing well here now
early canola finishing out , will be decent, later canola taking beating with a lot of abnormal stunted pods . Surprisingly few blanks .
The very late canola just blooming now will not be much without rain in the next 24-48 hrs
we still have decent soil moisture but crops just can’t keep up .
we were in excellent shape , now hopefully get maybe average if we get a rain soon . If not it will continue to slide like many others

We made it a month longer than last year before things went south.
we definitely got the sun and warmer temps to push maturity, just needed to be 5 degrees less , especially overnights .
