It's looking like there will be a lot less production coming out of this area.
We went over the line on excess rain this past 5 days and not done yet.
We are at 3.5 in since early last week and still raining.

10.5 inches since spring break up.

Not over yet but there will be crop insurance claims in swampy areas.

Kind of seems odd but I recall more than a few Father's days rainstorms that did serious damage to the young crop.

Weather certainly picks winners and losers. We are sitting at roughly 3.25 inches since May 1. Crops look good but are late. Not much rain in the two week outlook, recent strong winds have dried things out. Mud and excessive water not an issue here.

Another .5 Saturday night. .5 yesterday. Hit 10” mark for this spring.

That’s the last nail in the coffin for this area. Time to get the disc ready.

4" this season. Way behind on sun.
Mudded in canola struggled out after getting pounded hard and just 2 leaf. Grass even. Warm April. Cold dark since. Tried to head after first mowing, browned off in places. Mowed second time 10 days ago and more brown.
Wheat in a month and no panic to spray at all re staging. Pre emerg worked as well. Fixing our spray water made a difference. Cold cloudy again yesterday, today, and tomorrow....

We are well over 10" this spring east of Edmonton as well. I need to repair an inner bearing on the disc as well. Thanks for the reminder. The upside is that with recent price action on the markets, the crop insurance price for canola will be higher on the bushels not produced than the market price on actual bushels for all this June seeded canola around here.

Some frost in our area, haven’t had a good look yet to see if there is damage. Will have to hold off spraying for a couple days, maybe by then fields will be a bit dryer.

It will require the weeds completely taking over and suffocating the crop out. Sad to have expertise in the topic.
