Can cash in anytime, no shortage of people wanting in it seems. I do think we will see another European influx as well unless the government clamps down on immigration. Around here it was Germans buying land like crazy in the 80’s. Still lots of land German owned and most have never set foot on it (never did come over), though been selling lately through estates as they pass away. Something about the German government encouraging foreign investment at the time I am told?.

Some significant Dealers and brands not represented.
Combine inventories have been an appreciating asset in recent years as price for new inflated rapidly.
That hasn't always worked in commodity cycles.

As SF said, incentives (interest free financing particularly) (5 year warranty coverage free) by the dealer and manufacturers become bigger a influence on values of the equipment. You will find Dealers have reserve equipment funds, that have been built up over many years… that allows them to target sales to reduce inventory.
Very interesting study on how dealers and manufacturers manipulate inventory prices…to meet ”market” “demand…”
Many Blessings!

Each to their own , some have done extremely well the past three year , most have not.
it what’s it is , Tis the nature of farming in Western Canada.
Always someone who does well , and smart enough and or lucky to be on the fortunate end .
just don’t flaunt it , cause farmers are resentful by nature.
was not too long ago when some in the west did extremely well with pulses and out east where flooded . Never once did I see on here someone touting $3,000,000 in a lentil sale .
take your good times and be happy and carry on . Gives a very false reading to the industry as a whilole cause they truly believe every farmer is a multimillionaire and resent every one of us . Look at some of the replies on here from “grain buyers “ that cry about a 1-3 month vacation, that’s one out of 100 ffs at best in a lucky situation , and great farming practices combined with smart moves , but 1%- 3 % total .
there are far more shit sandwich’s than lobster in farming for most .
It Tis the nature of farmers , and breeds the very nature of CWB supporters.
let’s not go there
yes some did very well, right on, most did not and are facing a train wreck with the current market blowout, zero sub soil moisture for the 3-6 th year in a row .
be glad you get moisture
Did a road trip to Lethbridge, where water makes millions , most farms there would make even SF look like a hobby farmer .. no disrespect at all but seriously, in dry land farming we all are just lucky to be in the game at times
when shit times come again, just don’t complain , ever , if you just went through the three best years ever , dont flaunt it . It will not go over good , obviously.
best of luck to all
I get it , prices suck , but put on the shoes of many others that have had a fukin drought for up to 6 years in a row. We not there , but I know many
but totally get the resentment of falling crop prices, it’s gone terribly for all of us .Last edited by furrowtickler; Feb 19, 2024, 14:03.

Am I the only one that feels sorry for SF? 3 million of canola probably cost him 4 million to grow it, sarcasm or not, it’s all relative in the scheme of things, if anyone is jealous just start ranching where the cash flow happens every year, shit that’s why I’m up at 2:30 am, cows need baby sitting.

[QUOTE=Crestliner;n789334]Whoa guys easy....let everyone have their say and if they are wrong or off a bit....who cares each opinion to their own. We have been on this site long enough to know what peoples beliefs and positions are on the issues. I choose to be curious, listen to what others say and learn and hopefully stay respectful to all viewpoints.
The fact is that the canola contract peaked on May 9,2022 at $1226 a tonne. That was probably a record. On Friday it closed at $577. That is quite a fall in 21 months.
You're right everybody has a say, but it all depends how you say it.
There won't have been any blow back on here if the ogininal post had just stated canola hit a record price on May 9/2023 of $1226/t and now it's $577.00/t .The message would have gotten the responce it deserved by many. I doublt the words jealous, Liberals, dummies, etc etc would have showed up.
Cheques sizes of commodity sales should never be posted on Agriville, as stated by others, Agribuussineses of all tpes visit this site, and guess what every farmer is painted with the same brush as being extermly wealthy.
There just doesn't seem to be enough humility at the ground level anymore so now we all have and live with the same title.
Anyways it time for me to "Ramble On"Last edited by foragefarmer; Feb 19, 2024, 08:24.
