Bourgault or bust for a non sectional tank, leading or tow behind. There’s a reason they sell 3x as many tanks as any other competitor. Seedmasters in area run a bourgault. Seedhawks up until 5-6 years ago did the same.

But I am with you, that octopus on the tank scared me when I had it, and still brings odd nightmare now that it’s gone. It worked but was way too much going on. The new bourgault tanks also require alot of hydraulics. Something to consider.

Used 6550 would be my pick. I don’t think draft requirement on the hitch would too much, it’s just a rolling cart on wheels (unless steep hills)

6550 for 8 years, bullet proof, simple accurate. CHEAP now too. New bearings and augers is all that wears. Very overbuilt.

Half the land is fairly level. Half has some hills to deal with.

flea, a few guys around here have given up on handling all that fertilizer through the cart and are floating some of it down ahead of the drill in canola. There was a custom floater guy running around the rm last yr. First time I had seen him.

That sounds like a good idea, until you start running the calculator. How can they afford to pay someone to float every acre for them? 6000 acres x $20/acre = $120,000 per year. Makes a payment or two on another or a bigger drill.

Not only that but in my mind you lose the efficiency of banded fertilizer and accuracy.
