The usual suspects started seeding today near D'Arcy Saskatchewan. I am surprised he waited this long

Started making dust here today with our old iron which feels nice.

Started floating fertilizer on the corn ground and working it in. Only frost or excess moisture is under where we bedded the cows in the field.

Having to use the old school versatile and disk since the two bigger horses are awaiting on parts. Had a head for an Iveco sitting at the machine shop since February to get fixed up after it dropped a valve into the piston. They said it was good and promised it done a month ago. Now yesterday they said it’s pooched. Just a weeeee bit grumpy about that since a reman from CNH is 7-10 business days away. Realistically that unit is probably out for seeding since we won’t have time to put it together with calving happening. Also awaiting a turbo for our challenger since there’s none in Canada and the parts guys are hoping it’s in tomorrow.

We sure have had enough parts availability issues this past year………… hopefully it improves soon so we can get some kernels in the ground out here.

Here’s to hoping everyone gets what they need for weather in the next while. 🍀

Last yr we got our big snowstorm March 20. Waited an entire month for that to dry up. On may 12th we got 2 inches of rain. Didnt start seeding until May 19th, yet we got corner to corner seeded. Things can change fast in this country.

Driest it has been in years here, will be starting this weekend with the spreader and the drill on Monday. Just waiting on a few products but should have everything by end of week.

Pea fields taking the most time to melt all the snow.
Cereal stubbles went faster. Still some in canola fields.
Jazz how far are you south of Regina?

Why does it take longer in pea stubble?

                              I’m not sure why.
                              I’ve seen this before.

5 miles and 20 miles south. We had barely started to melt when that last storm hit, so its like April 1st around here.
