Most of it was totally a “created” shortage…. Now more obvious than ever

It’s drove me nuts the past three months the attitude that “well you guys are going to make so much money this year “ …

Still a few guys pounding seeds in the ground along with us out here. Expectations are very low out here…….. at least for me. I’m beginning to think if it doesn’t rain in the next ten days or two weeks that we might pull the pin on our yearling heifers and get wheels under them. Ironically I just got the last of them out to grass tonight. Found out our steers that left last week are going to somewhere by Montreal. They’ll have seen more of this country than I have which blows my mind.

Grass day is the most wonderful day of the year and definitely part of the “sexy” side of cows. The less “glamorous” running an IV into a scouring calf to save him is what I’m currently doing before finding some grub myself. Still have all the pairs to brand, vaccinate, and move out but that’s next weeks project after hopefully the seeding wraps up. Really looking forward to a break of some sorts after that.

Him and I are bonding over a beer.
Have had a few frosts here too but I think everything is so hardened off that it’s not fizzing it at all. Scratched a bunch of alfalfa under seeding that was planned and will leave the seed in the shed awaiting better weather this fall or next year. Definitely another “fun” year is rapidly unfolding here.

Good luck to everyone trying to wrap up seeding or moving cows out🍀

Touched 0-1 deg here in regina this am, but looks pretty short lived.

My canola just getting out of the ground.

Ice crystals in water truck hose this morning. Alfalfa and clover around the yard all wilted over.
