The whole "collective bargaining" thing is a massive sham but particularly so in the case of the railroads. Both sides know from the beginning that its going to binding arbitration or a back to work order. So where's the incentive for either side to bargain in good faith ever? Both sides just posture until the strike/lockout happens and then they can finally start to be serious.

I don't know how we get out of a mess like this but there is zero chance collective bargaining will ever work for the railroads.

I tease the guys at the loop terminal that's it's just a matter of time when they close the last grain car lid they grab there lunch boxes and take the train to the west coast themselves. I don't think i am too far off.

Maybe Trudeau can take a moment to halt his Ukraine fake virtue signaling tour and evoke the EMA again and freeze the teamsters back accounts.

Bets he lets this fester for a month.

Potash has doubled in price and now it sits on the sidings. Canada is such a fcking joke. Biggest supercycle in our history and we are going to watch it go by.

The farmers will be blamed for this as usual, we get blamed for everything. Too hot, too cold, too many avalanches, etc we get the shaft at the end. We are the only industry in the world where we take what we are dished. These guys should be forced back to work.

Some people think it’s really depressing driving around and around and around in fields at 2-3 mph…

              Different strokes for different folks.

My experiences with rail employees have put it near the bottom of my alternate career choices. But someone has to do it.

Or back and forth with no hands. I remember a farmer saying a ferry operator crossing a river and back all day would be boring. At least you could visit or wave to someone different every trip. LOL
