much more real numbers for huge areas
      15 bus / ac
10 bus /ac contracted at less than $14 and maybe 5 bus at current prices

Run the number on that , and that’s just ball park .

Some had less yield and higher amounts contracted .
Not to judge anyone , as absolutely no one knew how bad and how big an area was going to get hit with heat and drought of this magnitude.

Plus crop insurance coverage. Unless your overage is 15. Devils advocate is all. Only 30 bushel coverage would add a few bucks to that dismal crop…

          10bus x $12 = $120
          5bus x $20 = $100
          SCIC coverage of 28bus -15bus cut = 13bus
          13bus x $12 = $156
Net net $376 per acre and live to fight another day

Now what most outside farming think we are getting
            15 bus at $20 ... $300 plus the $156 crop insurance
$456 pays bills and makes some money.
$80 /ac missing from most of the presumed assumptions

Not in this area and many other areas, but ya I agree with you.
But the vast majority was no were near 35 .
I doubt the western Canada average will even be close to 25 .
But the assumption will be there that because a handful did do ok that it’s free game on the majority.

Regardless, it’s going to be a very tough winter to get into next spring now that inputs for next going way up
It’s unfortunate, but it’s the way the system always has been
