"If you are fully vaccinated, 60 per cent of the time you will not get any illness. And 20 per cent of the time you will be asymptomatic, but may shed virus for a short period of time ... and 20 percent of people will generally get mild illness," said Shahab.

"Even if you are older or have risk factors, the breakthrough rates suggest that usually you just get a mild illness unless, of course, you have immune suppression or other comorbidities."

However, if people are unvaccinated, Shahab said the virus is worse than it was in 2020 due to variants."
Local post office has a half dozen death notices posted at the moment. Started a couple months ago. Wasn't like that a year ago.

I do not mind people wearing masks.
But as for protecting anyone that has not had a shot
By now I would say screw them.
              They takes their chances.
Lucky for us we only 15-20 of the population off the
              Deep end.even conservatives in Canada
Are mostly sain. In the states Trump even gets booed
              For suggesting a shot.
Canada is great already. No one is killing thier children because they think they have serpent
              DNA in them

I’m actually more nervous for you folk if antibody dependent enhancement or any long term effects show up.

What’s that old saying, “only fools jump in”
All that can be hoped for is that such people will come to their senses...but more importantly that no one else will take their dangerous advice.

Look at the Florida experience; And South Dakota bike rallies and what happens in Sask or Alberta or Minitoba when you pretend there never was a problem. What would old folks homes and extendacare situations looked like if had been no plan to get things under control?

You wanna know what they would of looked like! They would have had elderly enjoying their last days, getting visits by friends and family instead of forcibly being locked in solitary confinement. What kind of life is it to be stuck in cage over the fear of something with a similar death rate of the flu.

Were they ever asked or givin the option?

It has been a horrible lonely and isolating experience for many long term care residents.

But the death rate for seniors with the many chronic diseases and weaker immune systems leaves them very vulnerable to covid infections.

That's why everyone needs to be vaccinated and still take every precaution possible to prevent infecting the elderly.

Many of the elderly died because care homes were negligent and unprepared. Especially in for profit ones where profit is more important than good care.
