Around an inch. But we haven’t had the intense heat, and humidity overall has been strangely high somehow most of the time. Most times the forecast highs weren’t hit, often by six to ten degrees. Had we had the heat and low humidity, we’d be in a much worse spot. Crop wasn’t made on rainfall alone. Snowfall had a big impact too.

Less than 1/2 inch in June. 1.25 inches July 21-24. Not much green left on the wheat. Not many decent pods on the canola. More depressing than shocking how bad the canola looks once you walk out into the field and pull plants. Even the good looking pods aren't filling properly. We averaged a dismal 28 last year, I'd be pretty happy to get there this year.

We only live just over 20 mins from Stettler. Wife and I took a drive down by Big Valley(about 30 mins south of Stettler) and yes very dry there. Short crops, no pasture. I was talking to my herbicide retailer who lives just south of Stettler, he had been talking to a farmer from Byemore(a bit south and east of Big Valley) and crop insurance said his barley would yield .6 bushels per acre. Silaging it and getting 1.5 to 2 tons per acre. He also said a farmer from Donalda(30 mins north of Stettler) told him crop insurance said his barley would go 5 bushels per acre. Lots of barley stuck in the boot.Originally posted by furrowtickler View PostDrove from Red Deer to Banff last Sunday. Big change from Red Deer to Olds . Our area and east is much the same as Olds and south .
Went Home through Calgary to Drumheler back through Stetler . Not much through there , pasture and crop dried up .
South side of Stetler not bad , but then nothing really decent till Wilkie and north to edge of the river valley .
That strip from Wilkie to Battleford will have close to average crops in places , they have had decent moisture at times . But as soon as you go east of 29 and north of river it fades fast .
Pulse crops in this area will start coming off next week.
South of here I am hearing 10- 20 bus peas coming off .
East of here a big area will have near zero of anything
