Not pricing any new crop in this inflationary environment. Might feel alot like giving your grain away for free come delivery. Ask the same group whether you can book your 2022 inputs.

        I hear you.
In our area a starting percentage of 40 bpa should be safe. Normally factor a % of 50 this time of year.
Some years 50 sold by June.
        Except for 02. Yield zero.
        This is far from 02.
Even at that I'll have time to price it out. By spring other regions on stream and $9 wheat could still be high.
Of course, we could be in a super cycle....
Doing all the basis to 40 though.
Again, I'm a unique circumstance and do things in a non traditional fashion. Thanks for the caution reminder though.

02 yielded 7 bu of Hard Red Spring Wheat. Normally 55-75bu. East Central AB. Not gonna dare pre sell grain. Hell still have all last years, ever since the smell of dryness has wafted over the area. Gonna be like Argentina here soon. Sell only when you can turn it into something tangible. Not cash.

Wonder how those ( act of God ) contracts would play out if there is a widespread drought. Don't remember any type of contract like that during the 80's. -5 this morn seeding corn today anyway.

Oats is a good price for fall but sure quiet. Hope it stays that way. Like the horse with 50-1 odds you throw a $2 win on.

Wheat is the worst crop to contract before you grow it, there are too many variables on grade and deductions that they can screw you on. What happens if you contract 1 13.5 and you get a early frost that turns it to feed? Or midge damage or fusarium or to much ergot etc. I don’t think there is any contract out there that will protect the grower.
