Burnt, that is one scenario, but here is the more likely one.

Walmart and Costoc dont vote. That adam dude does. And thats always what our idiots in charge are thinking. They think about nothing else.

What better way to ensure a voter votes for you than to enslave them to your ideology forever, just like the Maritimes are. Break their livelihood and then dole out crumbs and you have a voter forever.

Trudeau already uses equalization to butter up his electorate and punish the non voters, but that is too precarious for him and he has climate change reset to shut down oil. Need something that will tip that scale forever. That is universal income.

Only question is how to get people to go on it, want it, vote for it and who will pay for it. The first 2 are already in motion. Bunch of people too scared to come out of their basements, the rest are coerced by our police and probably within a year a vote for Trudeau will be a referendum on such a program.

Only last part is who pays for it. Thats where you and I come in.

this is a really good post BJ
so much so that i have commented on it twice
and burnt has found the very best comparison:

But since we are not seeing zero new cases, the government decides to shut down farm operations, on March 1st. To help "flatten the curve".
But not all farm operations. Since farming is an essential service, they've got to allow some food production.
So they decide to allow the BTOs, the multinational-owned farms to continue production as usual because, ostensibly, they conform the most readily. (In reality, they don't follow the rules or reduce the risk either)
All the non-BTOs already have their seed, N, phos sitting in their sheds, bought and paid for, of course.
Under very tight restrictions ,the non-BTOs are not allowed to sell grain they have in storage even though their long-established customers want it, worse than CWB or OWPMB days. But the BTOs can load trucks out any amount at their pleasure, as long as they sign up the protocol sheet.
And because the supply has tightened up, they are making out like bandits.
And the WuFlu still spreads and the rules tighten down even more.

even chuck and some of his club should be able to understand what this BBQ fellow is trying to convey, everyone should think about this while supporting costco, walmart , etc. Rules are not always right or fair

Did you see the video? Is that a steak house or a pot house? More to that story quite likely.

Flatten the unfair playing field. The policy of shutting down small players while the big boxes rake in coin is totally unfair unless the big boxes compensate the little guys. Or is this a “ Take one for the team” society?

Actually tax Amazon, Twitter, FB, Netflix, Walmart, Costco? As in we are all in this together? Perish the thought.

I was taught a long time ago, the way to beat the big boys is to own the big boys. Buy their stocks.

Franchised chain restaurants share income streams. So if Montanas is closed or struggling in one region, sales from another region can prop that. Thats a single business entity with hundreds of locations.

I doubt mr adam has anything like that to fall back on. They locked up his welding shop too. Can we throw the locks up on your shop wheel? Wouldnt want you trying to cook something out there with the torch.

Are we talking about restaurants or big box stores?
A Chinese restaurant not far from here in another small town has had pickup only since way back they are doing more business than ever.
