Well look at our politicians almost boasting who has the most convictions for drunk driving. And no political punishment.
It’s a crime not punished nearly as hard as should. When your sober you know that drinking and driving can kill someone yet the defence is well that person was drunk so it was an accident sorry it wasn’t an accident that you decided to do this.

Agree the lady that hit and killed 3 people that was drunk ... only got a few months in a healing lodge ... you guys are right .. certain people get off practically Scott free . Same with the other one at Cochin a few years back ... basically only got a slap on the wrist .. different laws for different people . Glad yous brought this up

Long term care in Ontario and Quebec was in trouble before Covid. The Conservative Harris government cut funding to long term care and de-regulated so that operators were delivering poor quality care with little government over site. There are many facilities with 4 seniors to a room! Money is more important than providing good care. And Mike Harris is on the board of one of those private senior care companies! What a surprise!

And hamloc suggests that if people would just take more responsibility for their own health! LOL

That makes sense when it comes to diet, exercise, and giving up smoking and drinking but to suggest it is going to reduce infections in a pandemic where it requires everyone to help reduce infection rates is just plain stupid. Especially in nursing homes and long term senior care!

Seriously, the damage we have done to our society is basically beyond repair. This is the world the fear mongering has left us. God help us.

In the beginning I assume most people would appreciate some sort of measured response to the unknown virulence of Covid-19(-20 and -21 and beyond because it will linger a while yet). Is enough known now to completely let down our guard? Zero effort to protect anyone?

Maybe "Mission Zero", zero infections zero deaths, was too lofty a goal.

Let's say no measures had been taken to contain its spread, and it proved to be multiple times more deadly than it is, would have that been a better approach? Then the uproar.......

Am I happy the measures killed the economy and ruined some businesses? Absolutely not.
We can't stop this. But only slow the spread.

Best to go play afew games of bingo then go to the gym for a work out. Attend as many large parties as possible.

Must be shocking to you watching herd immunity in action which was the end result of all this anyway. That was never in doubt.

Canada just delaying the inevitable making the larger pain worse, maybe even irreversible.

The UE rate in our major centers is 12% still even after being reopened for 3 months. US is 8.9%.

Canada now has the highest debt per capita in the G20 and the highest debt to GDP ratio in the G7. Pick your poison.

So when you having your covid party Jazz?

Maybe don't invite your senior relatives over 60 and those with obesity, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma, smokers, MS etc.. Even if the don't die they could be left with long term health problems and conditions that will affect them for months or longer. But if herd immunity is the goal, then some of these people will have to suffer so that we can get back to enjoying ourselves with no restrictions! Oh I forgot. Once infected there is no guarantee that you will be immune for long. So we might have to keep infecting each other again and again to keep the herd immunity high. Or hope to hell that someone comes up with a good vaccine.
