That is so true I went through that with my folks miss them dearly but at times near the end it was emotionally a roller coaster.

So since you stated it can all us old boys figure this out for you?

Nah, I think it’s out of anyone’s control except hers.

It’s the age old battle really. Child grows up and becomes adult. Gets own ideas. Has own goals. Parent feels child is still child and adult ideas win every time.

It’s funny, parents always seem to talk about children feeling entitled. Now I can’t say I have no sense of entitlement but it sure seems like she has way more of that than I do! Age trumps all.

But cows got moved! With minimal yelling once we got started hah

a lot of parents have driven a lot of really good farmers away from the farm
i think they may mean well , but just don't know when to quit
you have to make your own mistakes , its how you learn
had grandson from the city helping this spring , was amazed at how much he knew and could do once i got out of his way
taught me a few things also
our minds close up over the years

Want your kids for farm.
Brain wash them with positive attitude.
Our daughters even with great city jobs are finding real fun driving all the equipment and they understand the challenges it brings to.

I can work cattle with 99% of people. Just not mom.

I think the biggest thing is don’t run them. Even in sorting. You get them on the run, might as well go have a coffee break. Been close to more serious wrecks with people being too forceful to speed things up than I’m sure I’ll ever be with the slow and steady approach.

Today me and my fat wonder cow won the day. I walked, she followed. The herd came in behind.



Considering we were bringing up the rear, we made a real break for it to lead the final half mile 😆

And having someone that you know what they’re going to do before they do it make life much easier too. Even using your eyes makes a huge difference.

Putting the crazy ****ers on a truck to town definitely helps too.

What gets said in the corral stays in the corral 😉

Working cows with a good crew can be enjoyable..................
