Falling electricity rates are because of lower carbon based fuel stock prices, not more renewable energy in the mix.

In 2016 the Netherlands produced 81.34% of its electricity from carbon based fuel.
In the years 2012 through to mid-2014 Brent crude averaged over $100 US a barrel. Lately it is trading in the $30's and roughly averaged high $50's from 2015-19

Chuck, I realize your hatred of anything fossil fuel related allow you to see this, But during the period in question, Natural gas prices fell off a cliff, Call prices almost as much so, And inflation was almost unheard of. All of those jurisdictions should be seeing massive drops into electricity prices, If they had been the least bit responsible in procuring the sources of the electricity.

Texas Is an excellent example of this. Almost free Shale gas boom has coincided with the renewables build out. The insignificant contribution of the renewables still Overwhelmed the Benefits of the cheap natural gas power generation. But not nearly as bad as jurisdictions without as much cheaper natural gas to mask the costs of the renewables.

Thanks farming 101, You beat me to it, it took me too long to compose the message while moving cows.
In 2020, we should be discussing the relative price drops of electricity in various countries, not increases. Between cheaper fossil fuels, supposedly cheaper renewables, major efficiency gains, and losing many of the largest energy users to China, costs should be much lower, not higher.

Regarding the graphs I posted above of renewables vs cost.
Remember that chuck insists that correlation always implies causation when it comes to CO2 and temperature. But strangely enough doesn't apply the same logic when it doesn't suit the agenda.

Good to know about the Netherlands mix. But remember A5, you said everywhere renewables have been adopted, electricity prices have gone up. The Netherlands has 12% renewables. LOL

"In 2012, fossil fuels accounted for 81% of the produced electricity. Renewable energy sources, such as biomass, wind power and solar power, produce 12% of the total electricity."

What about Norway -3%, Italy -4% and the UK which has a lot of wind power and has only gone up 1 % per year! What's your explanation there?

There are only 27 more countries in the Euro list to look at in detail, so you better find a good multi week pasture for those four legged money makers!

And remember when in doubt distill complex issues in many jurisdictions down to a single sweeping generalization and that way you wont actually have to think! hahaah

I think you meant to say 4 legged methane dispensers? Or is your crusade only against fossil fuels ?

Norway is an easy one to explain. They are the biggest beneficiaries of Germany's lunacy. Norway "buys" germany's excess power at negative prices, then thanks them by selling them cheap reliable dispatchable hydro power at extortionate rates when Germany's unreliables do what they their namesake implies.

Do you know what would really help the cow moving situation? A healthy dose of good old-fashioned global warming. Grass just isn't growing hardly at all, In spite of more than adequate rainfall Apparently CO2 alone isn't enough to grow grass, need heat as well.

Found a solution for all the climate alarmists out there.

Right on amazon. $200 to set the worlds C02 to whatever level you want! Unfortunately the lowest setting it has is 500ppm 😂

Of course it won't go below 500 ppm, that is barely above. starvation

I hope the Winnipeg Jets are in the Stanley Cup hell finals when the CBC National does a story on the benefits of elevated CO2 levels in commercial greenhouses.
