Over winter canola

My spring thrash wheat is 58.7 lb/bu. Does not look bad but their is enough around that the buyers want to buy cheap. In past years would get it to grade a three no problem. Spring thrash canola also good and was visited by a potential buyer in field for sample. First time that has ever happened. Mentioned they would analyse it for fatty acid profile. So I guess looking for downgrading factors.

This year is the first I’ve ever heard of the fatty acid test. No clue what that involves. Spring threshed oil has been high.

Are elevators visiting in field now since most aren’t doing office visits?

Unfortunately your right bucket , people getting free money to stay at home ... no incentive to work . Kinda reminds me of something else that’s been tried for around 100 years ... but I can’t quite put my finger on it ........ 🤔

The great Commonwealth experience. You are correct in pointing out some learned behaviours. Forced to a confined area. Supplied with minimum basic resources; shelter, health care, money. Minimal opportunity to venture out in society to apply themselves and thrive in their surroundings.
Nothing but time to learn destructive habits and behaviours to pass on as the next generation watches and learns. Australia is carbon copy of Canada in the treatment of Aboriginal peoples and they are on the opposite side of the world.
People do not work well when they do mot have to.
Jordan Peterson has a lecture about how allowing humans (all of them) having only to live in abundance and propagate the species. They will migrate to destructive behaviours simply out of curiosity and boredom.
I see this happening with the younger, most comfortable generation in the history of civilization. Started by well meaning parents and now reinforced by the government. Plus the government is trying to inoculate this theme onto the mature generation.
I think this is some kind of weird sociology experiment but I dont know who is pulling the levers behind the curtain.

I'm not so sure about this. Both my grandparents side of the family had 8-9 kids.....so they "propagated" their kind. Living in "abundance" ....NOT!

FAST forward, now people in some parts of the world live in abundance and cant maintain/sustain their populations.

To me seems like living in abundance and family size are inverse of each other.

There is a theory that throughout history when civilizations/populations feel pressured or stressed or at risk they have a tendency to have more offspring. Kind of like the more you have the more will make it to adulthood sort of deal. Whereas when a population is more affluent and secure the desire to have offspring begins to dwindle. Could be a contributing factor to why us dastardly millennials are deciding to have smaller families or even no children at all.

Similar is seen in other animals so it does make some sense. However with them it would be called instinct or biology and with us we’d probably call it sociological.

I asked around more and nobody’s ever heard of it being an issue before but SGS is saying it’s a problem in spring threshed this year. Shockingly them doing the test is something like $200 a pop 🙄

Nope never herd of it and there is sure nothing in the grain grading guide referring to it. I was wondering what this was all about myself. Maybe a new test that guys that want to go to more scientific quality factors want to bring in will be deducting for. Sorry.
