While I don't doubt that Canada is heading that direction with the reconciliation movement and creeping socialism. But, given the US's attitude to Communism and it's variants throughout history, I don't think they would stand idly by and watch as it unfolds on their doorstep.

And, what is happening in South Africa should scare everyone of us, especially us farmers in sparsely populated areas. Which is yet another reason to get out while the getting is good. I'm afraid the crowd in Ottawa today would be only too happy to enable and justify such actions here.

I agree, Isn't it just sound business practice to consider, and weigh all potential risks(and benefits) to the business?

In the safety industry, they assign a risk rating to any possible event. Giving each a probability and a consequence. Then multiply them together to get the numerical risk rating. So an event with a low probability but dire consequences (A meteor strikes the barn where all your livestock are kept) would get the same rating as an event with high probability, but low consequences ( a tree falls on a fence between two pastures). You might assign western separation a low probability, but the consequences would be very high, especially being in Manitoba which could go either way. Isn't it prudent to at least consider if preparations are in order, to either take advantage of an opportunity, or limit the losses? No different than planning a contingency plan for a drought, or another BSE type event.

US property rights would make sure that doesn't happen. We have to have an accord with the US.

You're experiences are actually really valuable to this thread. Understanding Scotland and Brexit, and having lived in 2 provinces. So please put aside your personal opinion on if separation is going to happen, or if you agree with it, and instead look at the what if scenario. You are invested in the outcome too. The movement is already afoot, and gaining traction, even if it ev entually fizzles out, what effect will it have in the meantime?

So grass you think that the borders as drawn right now are going to be that way forever? If we had a culture like china or japan maybe but our diversity is strength has turned into division and it will tear us apart. Peoples interests are so divergent in this country there is no middle ground anymore. It will happen one way or another especially in a weak confederation like Canada.
