How you like them negative waves?

I am not sure where you are at Horse but here the wicked cold started before New Years day. This has been going on for 2 months straight and doesn't look like its changing anytime soon.

We have lots of water in the ground at freeze up and I didn't want or need any snow at all. I really hope it is warm and try next summer.

Would be nice to be able to see actual annual averages for any given station over the last 100 yrs that hasnt been plotted on a graph or adjusted to make things look a certain way. Is that info available anywhere? CBC has an article today that Calgary is the coldest February since 1979 and records dating back to the late 1800s show i think its the 3rd coldest? But like Horse says we were quite warm in AB until mid January. Had 6 weeks last fall way below average but also May to August was really warm. Not sure over the entire year how it compares to other years and not sure I'm gonna trust either side of the global warming debates opinion.

When I leave the city, the temperature starts dropping so that by the time I get 30 miles out in the country the temp is at 3-5 degrees colder than in the city. If they haven’t moved the weather stations further and further out as cities have grown, the data is severely distorted.
