I remember being at a wheat growers convention and noticing that the CWB, CN, and CP were sponsors and the wheat growers were actively lobbying against positions held by all three of them. Whoops.

The NFU is putting on a free online webinar about the seed royalty issue with Terry Boehm tomorrow February 21 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm CST (MB and SK) that's 11 am in AB. Everyone is welcome.

Terry farms near Colonsay SK and has been following seed issues for many years. He will talk about the implications of the proposed End Point Royalty or Trailing Contract royalty schemes that would have farmers who use their own seed pay millions of dollars more to seed companies every year, and make illegal the ancient practice of freely saving and reusing seed by creating new regulations under the Plant Breeders Rights Act. He will explain how the proposed royalty system would harm farmers, citizens, and society in general — and what we can do to stop this from happening.

This webinar will be held on the Zoom online meeting platform. If this is your first Zoom meeting, please go to https://zoom.us/ and “sign up” at least 10 minutes before the meeting starts. If you are using your smart phone you may need to download the app before you join the meeting.
