If this is what’s talked about in coffee row I’m sure glad I don’t have time to go there. Good grief some people need to get a life.

I would ignore it all too....but it affects everyone when the write downs come....the last go round impacted everyones ability for credit....and as much as I admire cash guys and strive for it ...its not healthy for an industry as a whole to have that happen.

I am looking for a website for Quadtrak.com to ask permission on talking about relevant topics and it redirected me to touch a nerve.com.

The most famous line is “they can have it, they can have it all”.

Long term after all the dust settles, the person stops farming pays everything down and still owns 20-100 quarters they can rent out or sell upon retirement. Exponential growth has been working successfully here for 35 years.
I dont understand why farmers think the more ambitious farmers are broke, or going to be broke. They understand what they are doing. Diversified investments, real estate, multiple houses in small towns, lake cabins, winter vacation properties, custom aerial application businesses, and blocks of more farmland in other areas of the province.
It is still the same underlying farm theme for the last 45 years. Cash poor, asset rich. It all depends on what they did with the cash flowing in the timeline.
Well said. Saskatchewan has had a problem in that there always seems to be a jealousy arise when one operation gets ahead. That socialist attitude creeps in with the idea that the BTO's are getting ahead on the backs of others. If one guy takes a bigger slice of the pie, then others get less, not to increase the size of the pie. I believe some of the anger of BTO's is peoples fear that they themselves are falling behind and have fear to take that risk and expand. I known a lot of guys that the 1930's had such a effect on that they were never able to ever borrow money because of the fear of going broke. They were angry and mad at others who stepped out and expanded and where gleeful when some failed. I will say that there is a lot of the attitude on this site and its sad.
I agree that yes there is gonna be lots of farmers go under in the next few years unless prices go to new highs. They rolled the dice and they took their chances. Bank credit these past 10 years has never been easier. We all know the banks will turn on their debtors in a heartbeat. Having a good business plan is going to be of great importance. The guys with a plan forward that can make it a lot easier for banks to loan to will be in stark contrast to the hat in hand attitude that many farmers used to have and too many still have.

Will be interesting to see how this fall all plays out at the end of the day.

Yeah this fall is getting real interesting. Not much harvested here. Makes harvest 2016 look good now. Saw the first real estate agent 'land for lease' sign in the neighborhood the other day. Signs of the times.
