The wind hasnt stopped since april. Its really speeding up crop maturity. Canola swathing 2 wks away. Wheat harvest maybe aug 5th or so.

I saw what I think is my first couple of "bad" crops. Sandy land, Uniform, very clean stand of canola flowers are gone, two branches with pods and you can still see the soil through the stand. It was one of those "hit the brakes, whats going on here" moments. My WAG is 15-18 bu/acre. I cant remember the last time I saw a crop like that around here.
Questioning why a crop like that would be so poor I started to realize that the crop may have been mustard. Canola dominates this area and The pods were smooth and narrow leading me to think canola.
I dont think weeds matter much in lentils but some of the conventional guys are making the organic guys look like amateurs. Somebody forgot to to tank mix something.
My side of the fence is yet to be determined. One definite wreck for weeds possibly 2 . The weeds are there for sure, rain would be welcomed. Its nothing to brag about.
Farma and Helm I have to empathize. That looks rough for sure.

Drew seems to think an early frost isn't out of the question.

Its not like drew to be so specific. Usually he is more vague.

It's going to freeze but I wouldn't bet on it.
                Says Drew Lerner. Hahahaha

One of our first fields of peas is done flowering 90%. The others are starting to show they are calling it a year. Early canola fields are doing the same, flowering is over.

Seen on Twitter, talk of guys "Pro-tilling" oilseed and pulses under in southern SK. If we did that here theres no way that top soil would be still here by spring if this weather keeps up!
Sounds crazy to be "Pro-tilling" due to a drought.

Has crop insurance actually wrote off crops in July?

O88....I think there are some real disasters west of Weyburn towards Assiniboia....I need to go for a drive. I think there are a couple of guys who post here from those areas but haven't heard from them lately. MBratrud? bigzee? Anyone else from that area want to fill us in how things are?
