Old Yard Sites

cleaned up quite a few , thru the years. that is where all the good dirt is. and fence lines .
some of it is in manitoba too. i am sure .
for yards all that is left around here are the tough ones to clean up.
down to the monster rock piles too.

it is odd , you can go to some areas , and still see a lot of old yards. NE of north battleford , kinda nice.
but around here , we are into the bleak , hutterite look.
cleaned up a lot old yard's as they were a real pain.
we should almost list the names/. as soon there will be no sign they ever existed

What's been cleaned up...

We have one that was one of the original farms who settled the area back when the english came. We left the spruce trees around the yard and one lone tree. To Remember the original owner.

Few others are long gone levelled and buried. Even our original yard site that my grandfather started is long gone.

Weathered wood from buildings make great frames.

We have been approached about the elevator wood but it's a landmark for now...

Apparently stealing old registers and trim boards from old houses is the new thing....good wood and castings can be made into artwork.

Looks like a neat place Farma!

Reminds me of an old one I was at down in the Battle River Valley (sadly without my camera). That one had location going for it as well as building atmosphere. All too often here you just have an old building in the middle of a field with nothing else close by!

Found one of the old brick house photos. Really haven't seen one like it before or since.

Interesting gable end design as is the top half of each window. Not too many brick houses around here...escpecially in the rural. ...I assume wood would have been alot cheaper (;-) roll eyes? .lol). Afew stone wall barns in the surrounding area....depending on how good the fieldstone supply was....at the moment I cant even think of a stone wall house around here.

The barn is wood. No idea if the house is the same age though. Looked newer but could be because it's not wood.

When did they start putting houses on cement foundations?
