Yes sure it is..especially in a crashing economy.
The other professions might be in a crashing state, but let it not be in the production of food. Food must be a necessity in any Economy melt down, so as to avoid hunger and death.
Could you imagine the civil unrest if there was a food shortage. You want to see human primal instincts just watch what would happen if there wasn't enough food to go around and keep everyone satisfied let alone on the road to starving. And you wonder why Ag garners so much attention. Do you actually realize the public service your providing? Your contribution to a harmonious society.... you can live without a lot, but not food!
And that's how generals and ship captains maintained control of the flock. Food and beverage, canola and pillage, then do it all over again. Fun and games, they had a interesting life.
