Redland got out at the peak three years ago and rented it back. Teachers pension wouldn't budge on rent so let it go.

Yes, Landlords are getting a little to greedy and I truly believe there is an awakening coming for them, many. I have made generous offers to buy every quarter I rent with no luck. I believe in the not so distance future the farm landlords of Saskatchewan will be begging for that same offer. It will happen, the cycle will come around. I had one of my landlords tell me a couple years ago that he thinks I am making to much money and he wants more so a new agreement need to be made as I was handing him his $120/acre 25% share Red Lentil cheque.

IMO a 25% crop share agreement isn't fair for the farmer.

20% is a more realistic number.....better off to buy over long term though.

I think the proper term is "in the way". Obstructing progressive farms from making a nice half section or section.

Hobby. ... most of our farm is in a nice tight block already....could use the odd couple of pieces to make the block more complete. About 4 1/2 miles from one end to the other and 1 1/2 miles across. With the yard about in the middle of it all. Spoiled rotten considering travelling to the furthest reaches. 4 sections total.

No shit talk here. SW sask. We have been lucky the last few years with red lentils and durum. The landlords did well, now Some expect it.

Thats the difference between the West side and the East.
If you guys get our shitty weather for the next 15 your area will have a different attitude on farming. Mud is dud. Even the South side of the valley farmers have different weather than the north side. You can farm 40000 acres on the south side but probably 30000 on the north. The valley causes weather to do strange things.

How about do the opposite of what every farmer around you is doing. Let them pile on the Debt with land and equipment at these prices and as crop prices drop further. Wait and then when the shit hits the fan come back into the game.

Up up and away has its day but for those that remember history. We had 160 to 200 in the 80S then we had 50 to 75 for 20 plus years then this last blip.

Land is dropping in value in USA it will happen in Canada.

Opportunities are just a few years away. IMO thats when the good times roll.

We still farm in Canada one of the hardest places in the world to grow a crop. Mother nature still holds the cards and she is one evil bitch.
