So basically you want the government to pay us to buy new equipmrnt but giving breaks to companies that hire thousands is bad? Wtf is wrong all of you.

Either have free enterprise or socialism. It doesn't work both ways.

Everyone here needs to get on a tractor or sprayer or something. Your all going owly sitting inside.

Klause you would rather the gov pours more money into oil, Then you can get back to your $1000/day oil welfare sure would make farming a lot easier when it becomes a write off rather than an income.

Unfortunately I don't see any real change likely. It'll be the same old, same old where voters vote for the old familiar. The polls showing WR, NDP and PC around equal are also showing 25% undecided. Pretty much add that 25% to the 20 % the PCs have and they are home and dry.
Urban Alberta will not vote WR as they think they are a bunch of homophobic, religious Kooks. Without the urban vote things don't change.
WR had their chance and blew it last time - can't see them going anywhere this time. They are only PC lite anyway so wouldn't change things.

Or you have socialism for your corporations...way too much has been given out in tax breaks to buddies. Even Klein gave out a big tax break to his chief of staff who went to Suncor...
It is time for a change, although the Cons lie low until election day if they feel a threat coming on, and there will certainly be a lot of vote splitting with Wildrose and ND's, so who knows...but it will be interesting.

Ipsco before it was sold was one of the most efficient and profitable steel companies in north America.

They had 600 million in cash when they were sold first to the Swedish company.

They certainly do not need help making money, pipe or steel.

If you understood the culture of that plant it's always a threat to move elsewhere but they have generations of steel makers that are hard to find. The government doesn't understand that.

6they are only creating 40 new jobs at evraz.

The same tax breaks for farmers would have created thousands.

Where would these "thousands" of jobs come from? Bourgault flexicoil Schulte degelman, the seed twins?

I doubt it... There won't be that much more iron sold if we get tax breaks.

Horse, you just hate oilfield wages eh?

This will crank you even more but... I make the same amount trucking grain and fertilizer as I did in the patch. LOL!!

The best we can hope for is a strong, diverse opposition. In my wildest dreams I'd love to see a minority PC win. But in all likelihood, the PC's are in a position to buy a victory and you bet the office towers in Calgary and Edmonton are writing checks to guarantee that outcome. I really don't trust Prentice. He is evil!

Give anyone a free ride for too long and they become spoiled brats that want everything for nothing and then piss and moan when reality hits home. Just breeds the mentality that you can spend $1.50 when you only have $1. Albertans have had a free ride for a very, very long time.
The Canadian housing crush has started in Alberta - no diff than what happened in the U.S. in 2008.
It was just a matter of time before the bubble burst.
Land values will follow the upcoming trend IMO. Sooner or later you cant pay for a BMW on a GMC wage.

Klause I dont hate anyone but I do like to see people actualy earn thier income. As for trucking at least I have an option wheather I hire you or someone else but as for oil when they pay exorbident wages we all have to pay , there isnt anyelse in the game.

So your logic is the taxpayers subsidize a profitable foreign company.

But what happens when farmers quit buying bourgault degelman and others because the graincos and railways need their share of flesh.

                          Doepker is laying people off.

And once the pipelines are built it's just maintenence work.

There is a block of stacked pipe north of evraz already.

And for most of you land rollers are made from second or reject pipe that can't be put in the ground.

Even land rollers are a finite business. It will come to an end.

But if you give farmers a reasonable break. They might have cash to employ.

No need to have bigger equipment that doesn't fit between sloughs.

Doepker laid off people in their oilfield trailer plant...

Their grain trailers are built in Annaheim, a little village north of here where Mom lives... they are still hiring here and there.

The more grain that gets trucked the more SuperBs get sold.

                            Moot argument there.

the practical useful limit of equipment design has long already been reached. The last decade has have shown just how much money farmers actually have.

4 computers, touch screens, servo hydraulic motors, control systems and a mile of potentially faulty wiring and connectors to replace a chain and sprocket. Yup, that's progress.

Kind of straying from topic but think change and innovation may come faster than ever.
Could be robots for equipment and different management and ownership structure for farms, not that I would look forward to it.
