Cott...see, everyone can have Pilly moments...LOL
The best part is I have not brokered/traded/bought/sold a load of grain for over 6 years. Not one. And won't.
The left wing whacks have trouble with that one. Why would you advocate change for no net benefit?
Duh, because it is the right thing to do and for 77 million dollars farmers deserved so much better.
The farmer's union had stacked some calls at CBC during a call in show I was on a few years back. Their whole premise was that I was going to benefit by the CWB change by brokering open market grains. The first caller went on a rant. I said I don't broker grain. She didnt know what to say. 5 of the six lights went out on the phone tree...lol
It was the mindset change at the old CWB that always perplexed me. I watched the transformation throughout 30 years.
When I was in Winnipeg, CWB employees were reluctant to pick up a lunch tab because it "was farmer's money." That was evident right from the Mike Martin's to the Esmund Jarvis' in the org.
From that, they went to fn subsidized daycare, guaranteed bonus programs and totally out of control. If they were extracting a premium from the marketplace, giving farmers a better return for waiting for all their money, not many would give a shit. But they weren't.
They pissed away more money advocating the single desk and "the how great we are" mantra than farmers will ever know.
Doing the right thing usually costs time, energy and money. Ask me how many fertilizer dealers I have left for subscribers now...lol
The old board of directors tried to "shut me up." If you had any balls Rod, you would reply and set the record straight and tell farmers how you used CWB resources to make that happen.

You see stubble, to continue the pun, right from the horse's mouth, Larry Weber is on the farmer's side.
Good info every day on grain fertilizer, and a spattering of politics as well.
Read his green comments, they are the best part. Cut to the chase pretty nice.
All of it helps to make informed decisions.

Lol,i have been able to keep that monster locked up
for quite some time.
Larry,i admire yours and the to numerous to mention
people who kept the fight up and made the change
happen.
Personally i'm slowly losing my resolve to bother
arguing about things, like gold for instance,6 years
ago i would have went bananas on Errol for saying
such stupid shit, but now its like meh oh well he's
****ed(no offence errol).
What was that mark twain quote-its not what you
don't know that gets you in trouble, its what you know
for certain that isn't true that does
Seems like it fits in here somewhere.
Pars, way to much damn snow, way to early.

WD9,
HLG was upset by my posts like the new turbo hybred Jetta going 185mph!
I think it was a brilliant way VW did to market their new Hybred Turbo Jetta they are just introducing.
And 1000hp Duramax Chev trucks... breaking speed records... are in the same category.
Good publicity creates goodwill... which if folded into a plan... can pay good money!
I guess I caused Larry grief by quoteing his Web site as the DTN Source for the information on beans for Hedge.
I appreciate your work in fighting for Marketing Freedom Larry! Sorry this went sideways!
Cheers!

I don't know if you and hlg/burb/willy
will ever be happy...

THOMAS JEFFERSON, letter to William Stephens Smith, November 13, 1787.
The Papers of Thomas Jefferson, ed. Julian P. Boyd, vol. 12, p. 356 (1955).
"Yet where does this anarchy exist? Where did it ever exist, except in the single instance of Massachusetts? And can history produce an instance of a rebellion so honourably conducted? I say nothing of it's motives. They were founded in ignorance, not wickedness. God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. And what country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."
Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826)
In 2012, today's arms have become the Internet and social media.

For multiple generations the freedom of marketing choice on capital produced within the CWB jurisdiction was removed, my Dad always felt it was stolen but in reality the Act of Parliament removed our rights in a legal manner, it was the will of the nation to do so. Indeed, the marketing choice was removed by the Government of Canada and given to the CWB. We now have this right returned to the individuals who produce the grain thanks to the Conservative government.
When marketeting in a free model, using market advisors, brokers, or making the decision independent of a broker the freedom to chose the buyer remains that of the individual. It is a process:
know what you have to sell, and amount of the commodity you want to sell, find your price, (be it by using advisors, brokers or direct negotiation, pick your buyer, and do the contract! This is not stealing, it is part of a business contract in a free world.
I believe a reasonable person would retract the accusation.
