I just gotta know. How old are we all? Kids? Grandkids?

LOL, anyone who wants can post their
ages and other info. I'll start, but
first, I must say, my perceptions are as
    follows:

    SF3 is about 55
    mbratrud is 37
    mr gust is 36
parsley is not a hair over 40
    Fjlip is about 48
Hopper bin I thought was 60, but tonight
he says he figures he has 20 years left,
so I must revise that to 47! lol
    breadwinner is 35
    Furrow tickler is 45
    burbert is 89
    BTO was 14
    gregpet is about 40
Klause is a young punk, like 28
    vvalk is 55
    wd9 is about 50
sask farmer 99 is about 30
    oneoff is 60
    all farmer is about 55
    jd green is about 25
    bucket is around 45
    sumdumguy is about 55
    crusher is around 55
    lep is about 45
    mc farms is about 40
    hobbyfarmer is about 45
    lesm is 55
    farmaholic is 43
partners was 38 until he said he was
married for 33 years, so now he is about
    58

Anyone I missed I will get later. lol

But seriously, I think it would be great
to see some ages and background if you
    all ain't too shy.

I am 36 years old, and seeded my 20th
crop this year. If you include the too
wet years that is. I have a wife of 13
years, four kids (Girl, boy, girl, boy),
a dog, chickens, sheep, horses and I
love hunting, fishing, and trapping a
    bit.

I take farming seriously, it is my
living after all, but I am not sure
where I fit in with it. It has been a
real struggle, I lost my dad at a young
age, it has been a tough recovery,
    emotionally, financially, and otherwise.
I feel I am not even on the same page
with so many farmers today. I have no
gps, I got my first 4wD tractor 3 years
ago, I have little desire to farm a
whole lot, I still raise my own
chickens, I still plant a garden. I feel
like a throwback to the 1950's, and
often think I should have been born
then, as I like those things more than
    competing with my neighbors.

I have hope for my boys if they decide
to farm, but agriculture is changing so
fast. I hope to make better use of some
of my poorer land to raise lamb on from
our recently aquired ewes, as a
    diversification stream that won't get
hailed out, rained out, frozen, and cost
200 dollars an acre to grow, require
    half million dollar combines, drills
etc. I will still farm my grain, but a
bit of a change is needed.

A bit about me... How about you alls?

How the hell do you go from 60 to minus 20 to 47? I guess I give way to much personal info out. I thought Klaus was younger.

Thanks for the complement Freewheat, but I just turned 60. 45 years since stayed home from school some days to help farm.
Do feel 48 most days, wife is a lot younger, that helps!
Good post though, trying to read us through our conversations. I say you are close.

Not bad Freewheat. I am 47 with three kids Girl(19), Girl(18), Boy(16-will be seventeen next week). Had a part time job after highschool in the city for 9 years but always farmed. Was encouraged to do some sort of post secondary but didn't want to and was given a good start farming. Not a large farm-2500 acres, none rented. I really do have alot to be grateful for.

                              farmaholic, I do appreciate your
candidness regarding being given a good
start farming. It takes a real man to
actually come out and say it. So often
guys deny it, and it makes things look
worse to others. I have plenty of them
                              for neighbors!!! lol

My one neighbor talks of how tough it
has been while using pa's money to buy
                              machinery, etc...
