Well today I've come to the reality this is one shitty crop!

Man you can be in denial for days hopping that
your wrong but after every field it just keeps hitting
home. What once seemed like such a bin buster 7
weeks ago now is going to rank up their with 2002
    2004 and now 2012.
Simply one Fricking thing wrecked 2012, to God
damn much rain in June and July.
Canola is total wreck. Watched 3 combines on a
quarter beside fill two tandems this afternoon.
Peas don't like water so total write off.
Durum is a poor 3. Hrs is a two but all straw half
    filled heads.
    Barley is light shit.
Oats maybe but only 100 acres.
We're like Fricking alcoholics we keep denying we
have a problem till its to late.
So yes tonight I feel like a total alcoholic.
To all with a great crop good for you it's about
    time.
For us mother nature did a number.
To those who say no problem theirs ag stability.
Yea as if that Fricking program will pay.
Any way we will survive to fight another day, just
tough to take in such a high money making year.
    Best in 2013,

Do what every self respecting farmaholic would do, have another drink and farm another year. Good luck--admission is half the battle!!!

SF3 you take farming too seriously. It could be
way worse, we could still have the wheat killer
board and have to give them your wheat for a
coupla of bucks and then by finger fed wee
crumbs for a year or more.

And no grain dryer roaring away in your yard.

Hope your harvest is a safe one.

Nothing like getting up at 4:30 to do stock market
work before a full day of combining, but an
affirmation from one of the worlds most successful
men confirming my 9 year believe that the current
economic chaos is leading us into the biggest
financial opportunities ever will make the day less
          hard.

I know I take things very serious.
Farming is one. In a great crop you
count the bags on the ground. Because
after the Bins are full its your profit.
In a shitty year you count the bags in
            the shed.
Farmaholic I like that term. Even if we
fall off the wagon we will still be back
            next year.
At least I dont have to attend meetings
and go My name is Saskfarmer and I am a
            Farmaholic.
Their is always that one day in every
farmer when you see the writing on the
wall, and its not in your favor. That
day was yesterday so maybe a farmaholic
is like a drunk or druggie, you know
            when you hit bottom.
In Canada you have one chance at a crop
then their is Winter. So like the saying
            goes theirs always next year.
Safe harvest to all! lets get ur Done!

Cotton I agree their is going to be some
very good options out side the farm to
              make some real money!

SF3; You say your durum is a 3 and wheat is a 2. What is down grading it in your area?

In both the Durum and HRS its little tinny
pieces of ergot. Not your big elephant ear
type but little wheat size ergot.
Also fusarium. Thats the kicker so far.
Will fill my contracts and then see.
All were sprayed with prosario and tilt.
But with all the rain over the summer were
                  lucky to get anything.

                    Thanks SF3;
I was just wondering, haven't seen much ergot or fus in our area, but not much cut yet either. Will get a better handle on it in a while.

If spreads are big enough could be some blending opportunity before or at delivery. Lots of money could be made on blending and cleaning for grade improvement.

I think the gravity deck might take it out this year.
Good winter project since won't have much for my
truckers to do. Also another winter project is
getting my old tandem running. My boys could
learn something. It's a gas but for the cleaning
plant it worked fine. Hm see you can find projects
                      if you look.

There are always projects one can do in their spare time. Reading, spelling, grammar.
