#9 Hwy road view from Stockholm south to Moose Mountain Park

Lots of canola blooming, interspersed with lots of flooded out patches; some later crops coming fast, particularly barley; not much flax; no peas; pastures aren't nice and green; hardly any oats. cotton, if you've planted oats, you'll have buyers galore!

40,000 old crop-45,000(maybe more) new crop all un priced.

I'm glad i dont know anything about canola. Two weeks of perfect weather and not seeing it for a week now makes my horrible crop look descent, probably average.

Does anyone know how to guesstimate a yield on canola? Two feet of podds per plant=what?

I hate to count chickens before they hatch, but the ruff numbers are looking absolutly fabulous.

I'm sure most are sitting on pins and needles, like me,thinking please lord lets get this one in the bin.

its really hard to guestimate canola yields, I have never had a crop adjuster give me an accurate yield estimate (cereals they are pretty close).
just wait patiently and remember, you probably wont get hailed out untill after your last input (fungicide or foliar fert). No sense having the crop screwed untill after you spend as much as you possibly can LOL.

How is the maturity? Here in central alberta everything is approaching full bloom, good looking crops but a week or so behind (2 or 3 in some fields, way excess moisture from last year)

Good Luck and SCREW THE CWB

CP, a general rule is, you start from the bottom of the stem where your pods start. Wrap your hand around the bottom, keep putting one fist on top of the other to the top of the pods. Every fist =7bu/ac in Hybrids, and 5 bu/ac in op's.

          It's usually pretty close.

Snappy we tried your trick, my wife gets 35 bpa, and I get 21bpa ?? really depends on the size of your hands. Anyway Trend yeilds would point to 30 bpa being an average crop or about a 10MMT crop I beleive thats where we are headed.
