One other thing..I always found the folks who threw out the matching gold stove, the gold fridge and the gold dishwasher, even though there was nothing wrong with them, so that they could replace them with the latest stainless steel models.....were shallowest of the shallow.

But the "greens" who want to destroy oil energy can top the keeping-up-with-the-Joneses ficklers in every category..they are ficklest, shallowest, stupidist, and dishonest.

They are bandwagoners who have little qualms about destroying the Canadian way of life, and not one of them would be prepared to be stuffed up in those Toronto highrises without air-conditioning, and first class flights to third world countries documenting poverty, paid for by tax grants.

Now, that should cause a hiatial hernia, mustardman..

      bduke,

Can't agree with you as Dion as leader.

      This is why:

If he was PM of this country, can you imagine him walking into the United Nations in NYC and beginning to speak?(Or Peewee Herman?)

He begs the ridiculous! And every time he'd say a sentence, the entire UN assembly would burst into laughter, and continue laughing in fits and starts and so out of control, and as he'd continue with another sentence, there would be another raucious uproar, he would be banned for lack of dignity.

I apologize for being tardy in my responses, however spraying fungicides and hosting summer company have consumed all my time and energy.

            Mustardman re:NAFTA and resource jurisdiction....

Provincial rights to resources are National...All ex-Country exports are Federal....as per charter.

Energy...a little background...Mexico currently out produces Canada in oil production, by about 50,000 bpd, but their production is declining. The Mexican Gov't owns Pemex and tightly controls their energy production. The profits from Pemex flow to the Mexican Gov't which, because of politics, absorbs all the revenue it can and has not left money for exploration. Pemex also has National control of refined products as well...propane, butane, etc.

Canada is expected to increase oil production because of the Oil Sands, Bakken etc. to be increasing exports to 4 million bpd and we are expected to be using 2 million bpd. In fact Canada is set to overtake Saudi Arabia (i think)on the energy reserve list.

The US uses about 25% of World oil production and they needed energy security , i'm referring to CUSTA/NAFTA, and Mexico would not give at all on any chance of Foreign investment in their energy sector. Pemex was/is their cash cow.

Canada is also well positioned for oil/gas substitution with our uranium reserves. Substitution will be driven by high oil/gas prices, as the shortest route to peoples minds is through their wallets.

So...Canada was quite accommodating on energy security to the US in Nafta, but does have autonomy in extreme situations. We also have ensured US protection by their military. In times of shortages and terrorism security trumps all.

Parsley.....your question was " anyone think the Liberals will pick a new leader soon"?

My preference of Dion is as the Liberal leader, not Prime Minister. Have you conceded the next Fed election to the Liberals?

My concern is a new leader..probably Ignatief...would likely become the PM.

Dion is not as popular in Quebec as we might expect, and I think Quebec will once again determine the Gov't...Bill
