I agree farma but if you are at 300 then the next purchase puts you to 400, then 500 per acre and thats why i would be concerned

One tough year then its 600....

If someone farmed 20,000 acres and 15 mill debt, that's 750 per acre. Lenders won't turn them down because they are large and they may be in too deep with that farm to loose financing to someone else or worse, to a leasing company

Its just numbers i am making up for examples but its still very scary if this could be what some are doing

There are some operators around here I wouldn't trade places with. Who is ultimately to blame, the individual or lending institution?

Thank goodness not everyone is in the same boat.....some are on luxury cruise ships and others in life rafts cruising along below the waterline thinking everything is fine.... One small wave and they will be taking on water!

We are lucky we sell a human need and are insulated from the major downturn in the broad economy. The economy is literally flatlining all around us. I have friends in the car and recreational vehicle business they say dead hardly describes how bad it is. He mentioned a new car dealership in moosejaw that only sold 2 new cars all of february and these are typically great months for new auto sales. Calgary Kijiji is so friggin stuffed with late model heavy trucks. I I typed in T800 Kenworth over 50 of that specific model listed alone. What happens when the debt defaults hit epic proportions and EI runs out? This could get very ugly and the status quoa never to be seen again.

Maybe we have too many people living too high on the hog blinded by the potential downturn that is happening now. I am not saying they all have and I have been guilty of the bright lights that are $14 canola but you need to pull back on the reigns once in awhile. I feel on a whole that the majority of people put personal items ahead of basic necessities and they are going to get caught. Or maybe the 'keeping up with the jones' philosophy???

A pile of stuff has been bought based on high yields and high prices lately. A lot of farm expansion has also made this assumption it seems.

Sub 9 canola should make some grunt a bit. A less than stellar crop, and we will all be back where we belong. Neck and neck with my farm! lol J/K...

Canola price action today very encouraging. Crashed through
support but then ended up above 450 and first pivot point.
Volume concentrated on the green bars.
Maybe that'll put a damper on specs running wild.

Oh, and a great big fat bullish hammer printed too. Take That!
