    BTW,

Who is the largest user of water in Canada?

Answer is farmers. We all must cut back 50 percent and save the world... growing crops that need less water to save wildlife and fish in rivers/oceans.

The new social license will be enforced by the left... the PC alberta gov people were totally immersed before ND transition. Enviro Duck conservation no impact on landscape (since settlement) folks have the ear and flavour of the day won! Fun times for those who object... you are evil and are hiding your greedy abusive practices!!!

Doesn't matter who it is or which government but when you use taxpayer money to target specific ridings and pay out money where it isn't needed to put yourself in power a couple days before an election it's pretty classless. But then again that's why everyone holds politicians in such an esteemed regard.

I think oil industry is worried most about water and what the hell is being pumped into and out of aquifers.

As far as farmers tom you told us the free market is working so if there are extra costs for water the market will compensate us? Those are your own repeated words. Is the free market working or not for farmers tom?

so why are all these places declaring disasters? Klause hit the nail on the head about crops driving down the highway look good put the swather into it and its not that good, that won t be everywhere but those areas that had the heat when it was dry at the early stages most definitely had more effect than people realized, also see lots of white blank heads in wheat and the shitty canary seed crops in places I expected better.

The States change leaders in two terms for sure.A very good way to force a political correction. That is what this election is about.PCs could have changed leaders before and it would have been done. But now it is up to voters to do the correction themselves. We need a Canadian government again running our country. Not a Harper government.

Horse I never said we were dry and it was bad! I did say we're back to normal and water is going away! We have nice crops on their way. Actually some really nice crops! So yes three more dry years and everything will be back to normal!

Drove highway 40 going east of North Battleford. I noticed the casino is getting new asphalt parking lot.
Just leaving the city the crops are turning gold especially the wheat and peas. Very near the city there was a short little crop oats, i doubt they will make 40 bu/acre. The sprayers will be rolling there soon.
Between NB and Hafford there must be a thousand acres of hemp planted! It looks really good. I have never seen so much hemp in one place!

While everyone else was receiving inches of rain last weekend, our area had 1-2mm. Crops turning hard and fast. 80 percent of peas are sprayed or are being swathed. Rye half combined, winter wheat crop has a good start coming off already. Early spring wheat crop nearly all turned, some fields being sprayed. Some canola fields starting to turn and might be as close as a week from swathing.
Sure could have used an inch of rain last weekend to finish everything, guess we're gonna have to rely on our plentiful reserves. All surface water on cultivated land is now gone, finally after five years. Water in grass sloughs is down greatly.
In away, happy to have the lower humidity, not looking for rain now, that window pasted last weekend. We're in that exciting time of year, when you don't think you can get your equipment serviced fast enough, cause the crop is coming! Everyone is horny to go, lets get'er done! SESK

I am not seeing a spending spree. Only those who do not pay attention for the last three years, think that there is a sudden burst of spending, when in reality, the announcements and spending, have been going on all the time. It is simply that the media makes the current announcements a bigger deal than they are, due to timing. Ministers et al are always on the road making pledges and announcing this or that.

I guess I pay attention, so I do not see it the same way as those who do not watch politics daily.

Take the boosted kid payments. THe government said all along that once they get back to balanced budgets, they would boost it. This is not new, but rather than a fulfilled promise, it gets spun into "new money" for electioneering.

Riders. Counties declare ag disaster to free up programs and funding. This time cattle related mostly. Tax deferrals on sales for ex. And the counties that declared it had reason.
