For the varieties singled out for demotion... we do have lower gluten strength... which is why blending Extra Strong was a trick the CWB used. In the US extra strong varieties were blended in normal HRS easily for expected flour grist of Mills.

Who used to fund CIGI for the biggest part? cwb...so Changes happen... so do opinions. All ways getting in the road of the big market influence (US Wheat) catches up when the premiums are clearly being paid to US Wheat...for rational reasons.

Does anyone think maybe the shit wet weather over the last 5 years might have something to do with quality.?


Maybe instead of pandering to Tom's seed sales the government should look at environmental issues before making moves thinking they are solving problems that can't be helped even with Tom's advice about newer varieties that won't perform any better given the weather.

Put a rain storm any any ripe crop along with 50 mph winds and tell me how the quality will be any better by the new standards.

Faller is in the top 3 varieties grown in the northern states. It is a lower gluten strength than CWRS yet we price our higher quality against it's qualities.
Now they want to take even higher quality and possibly price it below that.
Unless we are going to open a new marketing system where we are gaunteed a premium based on higher quality.

Isn't faller the new variety being introduced to canada thanks to some good lobbying by ......

Once again grow more make less and reduce our quality in the process.

I wonder if the rocket scientists that promote this realize they are slowly using up equity to say they have 90 bpa crops at 2 bucks a bushel. And then still being undercut by countries that support their farmers.
