Exactly. Didn't seed super deep this year because there has been a shower yo make it work. Not so this year. Patchy crops that the hoe drill dried out.

Should of could of would of seeded deeper but the last 5 years rain was a given with any cloud.

Tick tock tick tock, a week into June and a dry looking forecast. Could be halfway through Sask's typical (is that a better word furrow ;-)) rainy season. Other's are right the rest is luck if your in the path of a thundershower. But never say never, I haven't given up hope here just yet. But it is getting nerve wracking. ...

The drought in 1988 I was immune to.
I was working not farming. Helped on weekends that I am sure dad appreciated.

But his input bill wasn't one tenth of mine today with the same crop prices.

This will end some guys farming careers if it stays dry. This is a game changer since guys were just getting on track after poor years.

People can talk about the new equipment farmers bought but most needed some upgrading.

This isn't good but neither was too wet.

Fjlip we got that 1mm. Was watching from 2 miles away thought got more but the gauge and 1mm of wet on garden soil is correct.

Don't worry yet about the canola. Every few years up north the germinating rains don't come till the second week in June. Canola has a very elastic yield.

I think the elastic is about to snap.

Both are in better condition than western Canada. Spring wheat is rated 75 % ish good to excellent condition in both Montana and North Dakota. Barley - 85 % G to Ex in N. Dakota but only 62 % in Montana. Yesterdays USDA crop progress report.
