I don't think we're going to make it past this one unscathed. Went to put the sprayer in the shed and drain pumps on the water trailer, "ice" on the north side of the chem handler. We do have some canola just poking out of the ground. If the growing point survives we'll be ok but I'm not holding my breath(because I like seeing my breath on these cold mid month days)

Braveheart, does that 50% rebate cover this sort of thing(frost, or in other cases flea beetles or what have you) or just issues of establishment that is some how attributed to the seed itself?

Farmaholic, I'm not sure yet. I hope all perils. I think all perils. I'll find out Tues morning. Likely find out a lot of things Tuesday morning.

            Just wondering.

If guys are prepared to lose half a crop to frost and it still makes it. Why not seed later with half rate?

Dekalb will provide all seed required to reseed, could be a major cost to them this year, tough on the share price. Not sure on the rules, could be a certain seeding window, NOT April.

Bayer is supposed to rebate $40/acre for new seed if you need to reseed invigor canola.
Defiantly still don't want to have to reseed but that helps some.
In our experience with frozen canola every time is different. I'd leave it at least a week after the last frost before looking. At least we have time on our side somewhat this year.

Depends if your field was burnt black aswell.

Agreed, the canola always has a better chance on black land for sure.

Agstar how many of those bean fields going to be reseeded with bin run seed? The monsanto police will be busy issuing fines.
