I am happy , with family , at campfire , beer in hand, enjoying time off now knowing-that all I can do has been done . The rest is up to Mother Nature. Too many guys throw in the towl far too early then come back not happy and pout their yeilds are not what they should be as far a crops
In society - well the opening thread is right , far too many people focused on little things that don't matter and get their dream lifestyle that is unattainable to 99.8 % of people on earth

Perhaps the thread should have started with a definition of 'what is happiness'. In my mind, that starts with all of your past experiences and your expectations for the future and the things you would like to do and accomplish. And if you like both of those, then you are truly happy. Sitting around the campfire with family, beers and a beautiful sunset or being able to buy the latest biggest, best toys is not happiness - that's contentment. Being unhappy with grain prices or the weather is discontent, but has nothing to do with happiness. I think if you read Charlie's words, he's got it right. Me, I'm happy when I get up in the morning, have my first smoke, take my meds, read the paper and check out the obits and my name and picture aren't in there - then I'm bloody happy. Just back from BC with a fantastic trip to Crawford Bay for a weekend comedy fest with 4 good friends and I'm feeling pretty happy right now recounting the things we did while nursing beers and wine. If you hate what you're doing because of this and that and are perpetually 'unhappy', then quit the bs. There are unlimited opportunities out there for you to discover. Why do the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome?

Life so very interesting, extremely exciting so often, and filled with adventure. Am lucky to still have boundless energy, and tackle things with a passion. Every day is so jam-packed, hitting the pillow sleeping doesn't leave a lot of time to think about checking the happy-meter.

My life-rule is to learn something new each day, as well as make sure I do something productive every day.

Hopefully, I'll learn to act my age...sometime. Parsley.

Oh shit , well I guess I am not as happy as I thought - I can't buy the biggest and best toys !!!!
Thanks for the morning downer rock pile
Actualy - I choose not too - waste of money IMO
The five mile hike out to the mysterious rocks at Fort Walsh early yesterday morning with my son was something I will never forget - nor will he - that was happy for us .
But I am sure some other stick in the mud will crash that party too - lol
