    Cost of Organic Food?

Many "experts" often say that organic food is too expensive and only for rich consumers. And we need to feed the hungry with GMOs and high input agriculture.

They say we can't afford to support organic agriculture because it uses more land and is less productive. Whether this is true or not in all crops around the world is subject to debate.

Why are these experts so focused on organic agriculture? Cannot the same argument be made about all the land and resources that are used to grow feed grains for livestock?

Livestock products are often very expensive and are primarily consumed by the rich in developed countries and not the poor and hungry.

Livestock production takes alot more resources and has a much bigger impact on total available food supplies than organic farming.

So when you next hear this argument about organic agriculture make sure you call it for what it is. Ask them why they don't criticize livestock production for the same reason?
