Grassfarmer, if all western Canada voted NDP, would the conservatives still have a majority?

I don't and never will understand why any talk of voting and the CWB are in the same discussion. This is about business and only business. I don't care how many vote against me doing it, no one has the right to tell me how to run my business, and where or when to market my grain.

The multis, as you put it, pay the market price on
either of the border. It's your CWB that bends us
over in western Canada, regardless of farm size.

Small farmers will benefit from the demise of the monopoly. They will have opportunities that the big boys will not want to bother with. There will be opportunities to do IP that was not available under the drawers of water and hewers of wood philosphy of the CWB. Yes it will be more work and require a bit more attention to detail but returns will be there. Relationsships will need to be forged and risks taken but opportunities will make it possible for the next generation of Western Canadian Farmers.
Comedian farmers will just have to stand around and complain that the Banker is unfair, machinery costs to much, the neighbour got more rain and on and on and on.

rodb: "Small farmers will benefit from the demise of the monopoly".

And most of these small and medium sized farmers will have the opportunity to sell out to their bigger, better and badder neighbours and GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY. That will be the greatest benefit of all...undoubtedly.

Well if economically that is the future Wilagro, why would you stop it? You think you have some guaranteed right to have a small farm? Please show me the legislation for that one!

doesn't matter if you are small or big, if you suck at business you will go broke. Force to keep a select group "in farming at all cost" and you have a disaster.

But your blanket statement of small farms will sell out needs some proof around here. Please provide some.

wd9: Re-read my post...I said that they will have the "opportunity" to sell...not that they will.

                  Geez...nitpickers everywhere.

Don't they have that same opportunity now?

gregpet: Of course they do but with the "NEW" CWB...most are presuming a less effective operation without the compulsory aspect and the larger participation base that exists now. Also with NO elected board members the direction and even the existence of the future CWB is extremely tenuous.
