Most of it was $60 , a $20 jump in two years. And alot of 10,000ac plus guys with borrowed money. It will be interesting to say the least. Some may do just fine and some will be going over a cliff. It has happened in this area already after three excellent years let alone a possible wreck this fall. That $70/ac headline on this thread does not cover some of the rent here in areas.

Furrow, this sounds like opportunity for you. Negotiate a reasonable rent, Do a burn off and slide in some oats. P&H in Battleford have been very good buying oats from farmers around here. Just a thought.

I believe the 5% discount likens Crop Insurance to almost every private company that hss a deductible. Why are you whining about 5% when they just upped it from $50 to $70 which is a 40% increase over last year (PS I am not including the $30 which was an ad hoc payment that the government announced).

May sound cheap but it is all relative. Southern Manatoba is a world away and about 3 week longer growing season. Being prone to fall frosts in early sept, now is not the time. I will take care of what I got left. Extra dirt does not mean extra income around here. We are not lookin for more dirt anyway at this time. Rather put an extra $20-30/ac into my own dirt than pay 60 . It has paid off huge in the past few years for us. I will sit and watch for now.
