A well maintained quad can last a long time, and is definiely cheaper to run round the farm than a truck. It seems to me the worst gas milage possible on a 4X4 truck is the little running around stuff.
My cows are so used to a quad they seldom even notice. Now saying that....I don't rip around like a kid!
I have a very handy little trailer for the quad to haul fencing stuff/chainsaw etc. Also a seeder and a sprayer.
I prefer the quad to a truck (weather permitting!) for checking cows,light fencing, shooting gophers, etc.
