    question on "govt takeover"

They say that if I don't age verify and do premise id, I need to consider leaving the industry. Now what in the world does this mean? If I don't, will I be banned from selling cattle at auction? Am I going to get fined at auction? Like what kind of enforcement are they talking about? Is it only that I won't get part 2 of my check from the govt? If thats the extent of enforcement, so what! $10/hd isn't didly squat! Could someone please enlighten me?

I think that is a big part of the problem. The plan specifies several moves over the next 3 to 5 years, and talks about enforcement, but does not specify what that entails. Does it mean you are not eligible for CAIS? Does it mean they come to your door?
Does it mean they legislate changes with fines and penalties?

If, or when, you sign (signed) the "Declaration of Applicant" for the newly revised AgriStability program... you signed away your farming operation.

The declaration stated that the program could be changed in a material or non-material way at their discretion. Everything about the document was "at their discretion".

It stated that if the program was cancelled, or if you quit the program (or were kicked out of the program) your obligations under the "declaration of applicant" would SURVIVE TERMINATION. This means that you signed a blank piece of paper and agreed to obligue to any conditions - at the governments discretion forever.

This was the straw that broke my back. I decided that I would NOT take any more of these handouts, I would not participate in Agristability or Agri-Invest. The new government mantra to enlist conditions/strings attached to receive funding demonstrated to me that they want CONTROL.

It is ironic that the gov. is fighting for the end of the CWB, while at the same time trying to implement a meat board.

Until the legislation is written and passed in the legislature or the House of Commons, we don't know diddley squat about the future plans of this government.

This program was in the works for quite some time, as this explains why the Alberta gov. and the USA government rid themselves of Horse Meat Slaughter plants. Can you imagine all those involved with the horsey industry signing such documents with the government? Not a chance.

Last week I spoke with "Daniel" at the AFSC office; who phoned on behalf of Ag Minister Groenveld. I had called and left a message, asking wehre I could return my first check. It got their attention.

Daniel stated that the AB Recovery Pland and the Livestock and Meat Strategy was "voluntary".

Today, in the mail, I have a letter from Groenvelds office (standard form going out to all producers) which states that the program is MANDATORY; and there is a list giving the dead lines for "compliance".

quote: "This means that beef producers, for example, will be required to comply with mandatory premise ID and age-verification, starting with this year's calf crop, by January 2009. All other species covered under this strategy must comply with premise identification by January 2009. Additional requirements such as movement and source verification will be implemented in 2010 and are outlined in the attached chart."

What part of this is voluntary?

Well according the the attached chart, the voluntary parts of the program are (for now):

        1. Bio-security verified
        2. Animal Care verified
        3. Environmental stewardship verified
        4. Brand and attribute certification.

The Mandatory Requirements are listed as:

        1. Premise ID (notice it's first)!
        2. Age verification (beef)
        3. Movement.
        4. Source verification.
        5. Yield and grade.
        6. On-Farm Food Safety verified.
        7. Weaning date.
        8. Medication/vaccination.

The argument is Alberta will be the leader in this new livestock program and we will outsell the rest of the world with our meat.

This socialist program has already been implemented in the EU countries, and in Australia. A very nice Aussie and his friend helped us out with our branding this weekend. Their RFID tags include their Premise ID number as well.

The practice of implementing these top-down rules and regulations/restrictions in Canada first, assists the USDA in ramming it down the throats of USA beef/meat producers.

This is all part of the SPP (security and prosperity partnership) aggreements - implemented by governments and business leaders without any consent or mandate from the people.

When enough people/ducks are in a row - these same bureaucrats will implement their coup and implement ONE CURRECY (the Amero) for the new economic district called the North American Union (NAU) consisting of Canada, USA and Mexico - this is what the three amigos have been up to (behind closed doors).

Commrades, be prepared to have a dollar that is worth less (American economy tanking) and their ship is going to drag down Canada too.

With fuel worth what it is, and going up up up.... how economical is it going to be to ship meat to another continent?

You could send me the cheque if it bothers you that much. I don't suffer from the western rancher paranoia.
