Horse go out and buy one if you think you are having to pay to much for grass privately... We did and it certainly did not get gifted to us. Our numbers and costs are what I say they are and we don't go overstock it so that we ruin its carrying capacity

Horse: I hope you are not suggesting cancelling grazing leases?
Why would you support something like that? Would you like the government to cancel your "Fee Simple" property? And don't think they couldn't.....they already did on part of your property, under Bill 24, the Carbon Capture & Storage Statutes Amendment Act!
          Grazing leases are real property.
If you think the highest bidder should have the leases, who do you think will own them? It will be the big oil companies not farmers and ranchers!
Your competition argument doesn't add up. No one is stopping you from buying a grazing lease.

Why argue with Horse... do you like talking to agent provocateurs?

When you argue with Horse you waste your breath discussing this one grievance that Horse would love you to spend all your time discussing....

Instead keep focused on what you where initially discussing and inform people of facts, not agruing Horse's fiction.

Goucho I dont like the price of air fare so should I buy a airline? Gasa to high drill an oilwell.
Not geting paid enough join a union?
If the gov would set a realistic rate of rent would that be asking too much, The ABP spent thousands on a analis of grazing leases and the conclusion was what is being sold is the diference between what is being charged as to what they are actualy worth.
We all complain about gov waste and frivoils expences so why is it bad to point out they are doing a dam poor job of managing crown lands the fees charged are not even close to what it costs just to run the public lands ofices. Who actualy owns the leases now ? there is more oil workers and weekend t****rs with what amounts to private playgrounds than there is legetimate cattlemen , Just take away the oil revenue annd charge a resonable rate and watch how many pack it in, if thats not welfare I dont know what is?
Kathy FACTS $1.39/AUM plus taxes real world $30/AUM fact 3.5 mil in grasing fees over40 mill in anual oil revenue. Fact leases are 10 yr renewable and assinable ( for sale)
Fact all the rights of free hold land .All the rent is 100% deductable lots of upgrading assistance ie doughouts clearing land even fencing in certan instances.
Pencil it out the cost of buying land or buying a lease or applying for a lease , those leases have a huge advantage and there is not leases to be had everywhere and if there was it has been in someones hands for many yrs.
In summary I feel lease holders could and should pay a decent price for those leases It should be the gov responsability to get the tax payers a decent return on our public accets. By the way Kathy how much crown land to you control?
