Listened to talk radio tonight. Evidently Vancouver is considering charging a commuting tax for anyone coming from the suburbs to try and discourage vehicle usage and carbon emissions. The guest on the radio show threw out a number of $8.50 a trip. She says they are experimenring on wether to charge like a toll per trip or to require vehicles to have a monitoring device installed so all driving can be accounted for and charged accordingly. I guess there are already these monitoring devices being piloted in some places in the states and the group that is pushing for this basically wants to make driving unaffordable intentionally.
