Well, it was more of a guess but with the late spring snow showers and cold start to April and then on and off wind etc. Getting stuff ready took a little more time this year than other years.

So peas are going in and wheat later today.

Showers are taken out of environment Canadas forecast for our area and learner had that last Friday.

Pea acres will be down some 300 acres due to price uncertainty.

Wheat seed to dust the bins will bust not sure because the ground is not wet like last year. Its good to start seeding but will need timely rains.

Who else starting today or waiting a little while longer.

Happy Seeding even if the Costs are out Weighing the profits.

After twenty or so years of wet to very wet, nice to see more normal to good seeding conditions.
Still a lot of nuisance wet spots to go around, also occasional side hill seep, would take one more dry year to get things back to some years of 1980s.
A big thank you to pioneers of direct seeding, confident there is enough moisture close to surface to provide good germination.

I am a few more days away but should start this week. Just a few water runs and tree lines where the snow was 15-20 feet deep to dry up. The people with lighter well drained land are getting started.

I looks like the whole of Sask will be starting about the same time and that can cause logistics issues with NH3 delivers.

All the way to Moose Jaw from Regina, not one field seeded. One sprayer filling at 1/3 full dug-out. Everyone around us is going and some half-done with only small seeds left. Let it pour!

Seeding is going nuts down here, 40 minutes south of Bellplain.

I think you would be fined if you dared to harrow a field around here this spring.
