People wave those red and white flags on July 1, get all teary-eyed and let bygones be bygones. That's generally the wrong way to move towards independence. I've been ready to join US for 20 years, it's the rest of you that are dropping the ball.

You think separating is gonna free you from the oil screw job. Hahaha it would be worse. We would only have an oil government. No need for elections.
Land would just be available for re use of oil. And nothing else.

Bucket, so since when has Federal of Provincial governments not subsidized big oil in the west? Brad Wall purposely made Sk royalties lower than Ab to entice oil companies to drill in Sk. I know it doesn't make it right!

I thought that if oil travels by pipe there is less rail traffic, meaning more grain "could" be moving by rail? Not sure if that would play out in the Kinder Morgan pipeline but who knows. More pipelines could follow, hopefully east west???

Why have you been waiting for 20 years for the rest of us to join YOU to be part of the USA, take the plunge yourself. Oh, but wait it was much easier to take advantage of the Canadian health care, and education system while the kids were growing up in Canada. Lots of talk coming from the armchair quarterback now!!

You misunderstand. Ready for US to take over. Eliminate Canada altogether. I'm not moving from my piece of paradise, but I am more than happy to fly another flag over it. Family has been here long before Confederation, the war of 1812, or French Indian Wars. Flag changes are a way of life on this land currently called Canada.

                "the war of 1812,"

Sure glad we kicked their asses out of Canada. Maybe things wouldn't be quite the little paradise you enjoy now 15444 if that hadn't happen!

Just another war the USA lost, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and who knows what's next? Sure would have hated to have lost a love one in those big business War Weapon building ventures, how about you 15444?

Our flag doesn't need any changing, just the people who live in Canada that don't realize what they have need to change.

The physical land and geography is a paradise. The government and its regulation which attaches a name to it, is a shithole which inspires no confidence. A socialist country that tries to mask itself as capitalist. Perfect example is the railways - private corporations taking marching orders from government on what they should be hauling and how much at what time. The only aspect government should involve itself in regards to railways is safety, and even then I am a little skeptical as it doesn't take much 'legislated safety' to stifle productivity.

But hey, if you figure government will solve all your problems, go for it. They must have an excellent track record.

Cargill/IBP/Tyson/JBS have all been heavily subsidised in the "agriculture (beef) industry" just as the oil companies have been, nothing new here.

The depth of stupidity in comments like this defy description.

Really, grassfarmer, foragefamer - you fail to see that the only government intervention needed here was to tell BC that they gotta get over their self-righteous hypocrisy and let the pipeline go through?

If KM was looking for government subsidies, they sure did a good job of keeping it a secret. They appeared to be ready to put their own money into the project but were not guaranteed that they could proceed.

So with that background, it wouldn't matter if it twas their investors' money or government money - the project was not looking promising. So your sock puppet and his like-minded climate cultists can take the full responsibility for this fiasco since it is their type that actually blockade Trans Mountain.

You climate cultists see no problem with dumping billions of dollars down the completely useless green energy rat hole. So it's hard to see why you complain about an energy source that actually provides something that benefits everyone, including you radical leftists.

Notley and Trudeau must be a couple of the biggest, hypocritical scammers ever since they both historically have shown opposition to developing oil resources in the west. Now they want t appear to be on the side of development, and as someone else has stated here previously that they will now want to claim credit for making the thing go, if it does.

And we are supposed to call this fiasco "government".

I said primary agriculture....actual farmers....not large corporate welfare.....

If there isn't farmers none of the rest make anything....

Get Cargill to do day to day animal crap and they would soon be out of business....they need primary agriculture family farmers to make money....
