OBOR and Where the Heck is Canada????

OBOR will become a commonplace term very quickly... It stands for One Belt, One Road.

It's China's extremely ambition empire building initiative. Trillions at play, and rail and ship infrastructure connecting Europe and Asia from Germany to the Philipines.

They had a huge summit this past spring... Many of the world's exporters were there.

One glaring exception. Canada wasn't even bothered to send a representative.

Somehow, Germany, the UK, US, Argentina, Brazil, Russia, and a whole pile of other nations where there... and Canada disappeared.

Honestly, you got SPGA guys "touring" pulse fractionation plants in China... do ya really think they'll be buying peas from Canada when there's a twinned rail line running into the FSU???

Canada not welcome at TPP either, why have a west coast for exports then? Such a waste.

Commodity groups have limited full time employees.
Those who tour are relatively few, and limited - volunteers that give more time and knowledge then ever financially compensated for

The group boards are pressured not to spend, be frugal, cost effective
        Invest close to home
        Show returns on levees etc

The groups could have staff and tour 30 people around the word every day of the year, searching for opportunities, market intelligence, strategic alliances, investment, etc. It’s always difficult to establish priorities with limited dollars.

Gotta love arrogant self-righteous Canucks who point fingers at Trump that he is isolating the US. I think Dumbo has taken it on like an ice bucket challenge. Except Trump has the population, buying and military power to make America great again, while Dumbo is just Dumbo - baked out his mind in the corner, staring at the sky in search of unicorns and rainbows.

            More fake news Klause!
Did a little digging and found this from the Canada Eurasia Russia Business Association among others "Pamela Goldsmith-Jones, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade, will be in Beijing, China, May 14-15, to represent Canada at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation." Probably got missed off the list you posted accidentally. Mountain out of a mole hill and all that!

              Lol. Secretary.

              We send a secretary.

Never made it into any official lists. Or transcripts. So no... Canada was not represented.

Grassy I have contacts in the grain trade all over the world. It's pretty sad when I hear the same thing over and over again. Canada is hard to do business with and old news.

Parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Trade. Might have been as well versed on the topic as the UK's chancellor of the exchequer or the US's National Security Council director or Tunisia's Culture Minister.
Fact is Canada was represented which is not what you claimed.
After the event the Chinese ambassador to Canada had a letter published in the "Hill Times" championing the success of the event and mentioning that Canada had attended and that he felt Canada could be a key contributor and beneficiary of the belt and road project. Nice try though!!

                  LOL.

How many billions in investment did Canada walk away with?

A parliamentary secretary had no power to make deals.

As far as the UK. The country is dead. Economically and culturally. It just doesn't know it yet.

It shows me that the rest of the world values investing in infrastructure and efficiency. Canada can’t even get a domestic pipeline approved or have any kind of plan for increasing rail/shipping

Grass again you have no clue.

It’s nice that some farmer in Canada is a supporter of the stupidiest Canadian leader since Canada was formed.

But reality is we’re getting left behind in everything.

We are now a country that no one wants to do business with.

Thanks to a dope smoking idiot.

Again I have to give you credit you will stick with this guy till canada becomes a shit hole that trump talks about.

                        Apparently Sockboy knows best.
NEB already approved Northern Gateway but Justin just said no because......
Trudeau added an extra level of upstream and downstream emission calculations for Energy East to be scrutinized, TransCanada withdrew application.

Meanwhile new cement plant was built in Quebec that is owned by some Bombardier interests.....it will not be scrutinized at all but that is okay.
