    Alberta's Financial Abyss . . . .

    Welcome to 2018 . . . 2019. A massive financial hit for our next generation . . . .

Better borrow some more as Alberta taxpayers have the new Northwest Refinery which is finally producing diesel to subsidize. How is it possible that a project promoted as costing $5B now costs $9.5B and the costs are still not all in? Ironically it started using bitumen at the right moment due to the Keystone pipeline outage. Without the new refinery, AB bitumen would have been worth $0 this past month. The financial status of Canuckistan is far worse than most realize and only a matter of time until it sinks. I told my son he is on the hook for this.

Canada's economy has gone from 'Golden Child of the G7' in early fall . . . to a 4th quarter GDP shock to be announced in January due to slowing Alberta oil production. Cinderella story of government deficit spending boosting growth is ending as economic reality now quickly setting in . . .

      As a taxpayer, I'm pissed . . . .

Economic reality isn’t a problem for this govt.

Alberta and nut case didn’t work out very well. Hope sask residents don’t decide we need the NDP again.

Reality of any type isn't a problem for this government.

Didn't you get the memo, the only priority in Alberta in recent months has been Gay Straight Alliances. That has been the only thing in the news, not a word about finances.

Errol don't even know where to start. My first thought is that all of the statements from our Premier and our Finance Minister of late about controlling spending and working towards are balanced budget are obviously bullshit. This government has no control and no plan except to keep on spending and try to buy our votes. And as AB5 points out all they can talk about is the LGTBQ community. Also telling that this announcement was made when everybody is busy just before Christmas. And I agree as a taxpayer I am pissed as well!!

Alberta is getting a VERY expensive lesson on how the NDP will ruin your province.

Hopefully after the upcoming landslide in 2019 the ideological changes this anti-energy government made can be corrected.

You would have thought there would of been enough sask people in alberta that left because of the commies that they would of known better than to elect those pricks, after our last 10 lost years

Hamloc, you hit it on-the-head. Making this announcement 3 days before Christmas kinda says a lot about 'the plan' . . . .

Kinda like their predecessors then? Forty years in power and still had no plan but indulged in uncontrolled spending to the bitter end.

Alberta is screwed...socialist liberalism has ****d and pillaged the last of the economy. I would move out while your house/farm is still worth a nickel.

This same bleeding heart socialism has been proliferating and flourishing for years across the country and we will all pay for it...or at least our kids will.

I bet NDP get in sask next time around...hey all the govt workers love free money..each counts as a vote

Lots of Christmas Cheer everyone! Fingers crossed we survive another year!

Not what the NDP inherited though was it? Prentice and Redford, out of control spending, no plan and a global collapse in oil prices made Alberta's current troubles inevitable which ever party had won. The fact that there was no plan to diversify the economy beyond oil and no savings accrued because of it is the legacy of 40 years of PC governments.

No Grassfarmer! Alberta turned Green and Gay. Geez they both start with "G", just like Grassfarmer.
