For those that are not fluent in German.

The Russian Ministry of Agriculture is preparing to intervene on the grain market. This could start "at the need and in the planned financial framework" at the beginning of next year, said the first Deputy Chief of Department, Dzhambulat Chatuow, on Thursday in front of journalists in Moscow. Previously, Chatuow had not ruled out the launch - of limited market penetration - in December. The demands for implementation were particularly in the eastern part of the country, where the grain prices fell in part below the cost price mark, reports aiz .info.

Meanwhile, the government in Moscow has announced that it will reduce the cost of transporting grain from producer areas far removed from export ports as an alternative and less costly way to support market relief. However, Chatuow made it clear that there were no plans to abandon the traditional grain intervention and liquidate the intervention fund.

        Thanks.

Basically, yes. Crow freight rate system and buying wheat from farmers and stockpiling it to maintain prices abovr cost of production.

        What a novel concept.

yea too bad it wouldn't happen in this country of ungrateful ,spoiled bunch of idiots . and the whiners won't know what they have acclomplished until farming is as dead as the oilpatch . no idea where most of the money comes from in a country such as this . maybe they can use all the useless real estate agents for food once they are no longer needed because everyone is broke.

Putin, who found his power & wealth during the collapse of the former Soviet Union, knows hunger in his country. His commitment to agriculture is rooted in this history.
He is also aware of the economic power of the FSU as a food supplier to the world, and the wealth that is built on the back of an agricultural economy. We should take note. Trade channels can no longer be assumed, as infrastructure comes in place to enable the rapidly expanding production. This is a new paradigm.

In Canada Ag is a 112 Billion dollar industry! At the the very least Canada should fast pace competitive analysis studies of the sectors to see how we compare? No longer can we assume a productive farmer can continue to be globally competitive without the total engagement of government: Federal, Provincial & municipal.

Studies? The rest of the world is beating us at our own game and you want to waste money comissioning studies to see how badly we are being beaten? Let me guess, you want them done by idiotic Canadian profs like the twit who said sending whole lentils to Kazakstan wouldn't cause any issues... 3 years later they took Canada's markets.

We don't need to sit around and talk about it. Somebody needs to get going and get this country moving forward. Infrastructure needs to be built. Our regulatory systems need to be strengthened not weekend.

You have the FSU on one side. You have Mercosur on the other.

Imagine all grain exported from Mercosur countries under one price, one common quality standard, and marketed as one crop (Like we did with the CWB). 3 years away at the most.

Europe banning importation of cereals sprayed with glyphosate pre-harvest. You have even the DLg on board saying way too much glyphosate is being used there and here.

Sorry... this post may be a little harsh, I have a nice glass of scotch next to me this evening... but seriously, we need to do more than sit around and talk about this stuff.

I thought you all hated socialism .
interfering in the free markets .

now you think the govt should actually be involved.
we should actually have a plan ,

                        wow I am impressed

It's not socialism to ensure your country's infrastructure is keeping up to the output of the country.....for the good of the country.....

Especially if a country depends on exports.....

It's pretty simple and probably more important than another new stadium funded by taxpayers. ....

                          Sheesh. ...the dumb****led farmer.tm...

Infrastructure is one thing but when you get post like this many on here must be wondering!

"Crow freight rate system and buying wheat from farmers and stockpiling it to maintain prices abovr cost of production.

Klaus the so called Libertarian just posted the above, sounds very socialist to me. What ever happen to all the free market chatter that went on during the CWB days?

Then of coarse you got SK3 complaining, while gambling in Vegas.

Yes, 194,500 is on the rail headed to the coast or Thunder Bay. I think that number leaves out cars spotted for loading and cars that have arrived at port. Also, I do not think it includes cars that head south to the US or Mexico.
Check the PPShipDist Page for a closer look at where grain leaving primary and process elevators is destined.
Check the Terminal receipts page for bulk shipments received at port terminals during the week.

                              Have fun digging!
