They are so superior to O.B. chains and handles that once you use one you will wonder how you ever did without them. They are much easier to get on the feet and they don't slip off while you do the other foot. You don't need handles as the strap is one piece and very easy on the hands. When using a puller a quick half hitch on one side lets you pull a shoulder through the pelvis. The strap is very easy on the cow and because it has some give there is no injury to the leg. Also no lost handles in the straw! I've used one for about 4 years and bought it at UFA for about $8. And by the way O.B. chains make very decorative hangers for hanging plants! Reply With Quote
Mar 1, 1999 | 23:19 2 I agree with you on the ease of handling and the fact that the nylon has a lot more give so there is less structural damage to the calf. However, one year we had a lot of big calves out of one bull. You could get them out,but we were getting a lot of swelled ankles. After some brainstorming and a conversation with our vet, we realized that the nylon was cutting off the circulation to the calves feet. It was no problem once we realized what the cause was.
