    Grain yields

The county of Red Deer runs east and west about 65 miles. The eastern part was very dry and the grain crop is practically non-existent. The fieldman estimates averages in the western part(barley) will be around 40 bu.
Just east of Red Deer is a large group of hills called the devide. Two farms, one on the west and one on the east of the devide, six miles apart. The western farm is yielding 60 bu. the eastern 10- 15! The western farm is getting close to a bale of straw an acre the eastern none. What a difference six miles can make! About $220/acre difference!
As a sidenote, within the next 10 years the western farm will no longer exist...it will be in houses!

the west farm will always have the best cash flow as you can't beat that permanent cover program called urban development.
It is interseting to see how landscape effects weather. We have noticed a change in storm patterns since the *****on Dam has been put in. It seems to split storms and leaves us in the eye of the storm with rain to the north and rain to the south of us.

      Speaking of urban influence...

It talks about aircraft lowering upper atmosphere temp, while increasing lower atmosphere temps... the exhaust gases or high altitude Con Trail have a large effect on our weather!

Tom I knew it was the aircraft causing our global warming problem all along. Put a stop to this foolish tourism idea anyway, I would say. Everyone says after they have been away that there's no place like home anyway.
There the Kyoto problem is fixed if only J>C> would listen to us. J>C> stands for the forward thinking Jean Chrieten. Bet you thought it was Jesus Christ.
